Aitken Legal at The
Rocket Press
Release 05/05/2011
Gold Coast City employers
have expert advice on hand to meet legal obligations to staff following arrival
of Aitken Legal at The Rocket, CBD Robina’s corporate tower.
Aitken Legal specialises
in providing employment law services solely to employers.
It has taken a five-year
lease with option over a 135 square metre space on level six of The Rocket,
developed by Robina Projects Australia.
The office opened in
April and is the second for the law firm whose Sunshine Coast head office was
founded by Managing Partner, Lisa Aitken in 2006.
The Gold Coast practice
is headed by Partner Mark Bunch who said Aitken Legal had established the
office to meet a perceived need for human resources and industrial relations
law services on the Gold Coast.
“We are alone in providing
very specialised employment law services in a city whose population tops
500,000,’’ said Mr Bunch.
“The enormous changes to
workplace relations laws over the past 10 years have made it difficult for
businesses, small or large, to ensure that they meet their obligations.
“We ensure that we are
abreast of changes to legislation, and of decisions by courts and tribunals,
and we make it a priority to inform our clients of developments.
The partners have more
than 40 years’ combined experience practicing purely in this area of law, and
are committed to providing an efficient and cost-effective service.
The services provided
range from determining employee award entitlements, preparing policies and all
types of contracts for employees and contractors, to advising in relation to
termination of employment, workplace health and safety, discrimination and
harassment.
The practice prepares,
and deals with issues associated with enterprise agreements including
negotiations with employees and unions and the approval process for enterprise
agreements with Fair Work Australia.
Aitken Legal represents employers
in claims for unfair dismissal, unlawful termination, adverse action, and
breach of contract claims along with assisting employers with misconduct and
performance management of their employees.
Mr Bunch said Aitken
Legal was attracted to The Rocket, as much by the quality and variety of businesses
in CBD Robina as by the tower’s quality and the business hub’s central-city
location and outstanding retail, dining and transport infrastructure.
“We were also attracted
by the future expansion of commercial space in the area and the possibilities
this may bring,’’ he said.
RPA General Manager Hylton
Slater said Aitken Legal provided important services in an ever more complex
area of law.
“The firm’s unique focus
on employment law complements the range of law services to be found at CBD Robina,
which is swiftly evolving as an important legal services precinct,’’ he said.
The 16-level Rocket is
CBD Robina’s premier corporate address and has 11,500 square metres of office
space above a retail precinct.
Remaining office spaces
from 120 square metres and above are marketed by Marcus Weld, of Robina
Marketing Australia.
